Holiday Guide to Antibes and Juan les Pins

The town of Antibes is situated on the seafront between Cannes and Nice. It is the second largest town of the Alpes Maritimes. It possesses one of the longest stretches of coastline in France. Along its more than twenty five kilometres of coast can be found a huge variety of water activities including water skiing, parascending, diving, fishing, game fishing, sailing and simply swimming.

In the communities of Antibes or Juan les Pins, holidaymakers can benefit from a very diverse offering of sea fronts with small creeks around the Cap d’Antibes, sand beaches such as, for example, Salis Beach which offers magnificent views over Old Antibes and the Alps, or there are pebble beaches to the east of Antibes, between Fort Vauban and Siesta. 

Antibes: A Mediterranean Climate

Antibes possesses a Mediterranean climate. Winters are mild and it is far from unknown to enjoy Christmas or New Year’s Dinner out of doors. To celebrate the New Year, many Antibois meet on the beach for the first swim of the year.  In summer, hot weather is the norm, guaranteeing a warm water temperature that can reach 30°C. The old town of Antibes

Taking a promenade in the old town of Antibes is a true pleasure. Numerous boutiques and craft workshops, restaurants and bars can be found in the old town.
The Picasso Museum is one of the major attractions of Old Antibes. Dedicated to this artist who installed his studio here in the chateau in 1946, it is situated in the Chateau Grimaldi and boasts 244 works by Picasso among its exhibits. Square Fort in Antibes

The Square Fort is situated on the seafront. Constructed on a large rock, it is in fact a military fort built by Henry II. It is classed as a historical monument and can be visited by the public (generally open every day except Mondays – telephone before visiting; +33 4-92-90-52-13), it offers a 360º panoramic view over the Côte d’Azur. 

Antibes port Vauban

Port Vauban is the largest pleasure port in Europe. It cam welcome boats of over 50 metres in length! The yachts remain moored at the quay most of the time. To admire them, take a walk along the ramparts, close to Gravette beach on the ‘Quai de la Grande Plaisance’ and ‘Bastion St. Jaume’.

The Cap d’Antibes is in the commune of Antibes. It is in fact a peninsula situated between the Point of Antibes and Juan les Pins. A coastal path provides a pleasant walk among the sea, rocks and superb residences where splendid views can be seen over the Lérins Islands, the mountains, Nice and the old town of Antibes.

Juan les Pins is the seaside resort of Antibes. The list of shops and amenities available there seems never ending with bars, restaurants, discotheques and the casino.
